Come along, saints, no toil or labor fear!

We are delighted by your interest in “Trek to the Temple”.   – Please read all the information.
Date: Saturday, May 17, 2025

Starting Place: Rio Vista Chapel 535 S. Rio Vista Street, Anaheim

Attire: Comfortable layers. If you have a white shirt, please wear it so we look like a heavenly
group! And remember- it is generally warmer in Yorba Linda.

Time: Walkers: 8:00 am, Runners: 9:00 am, Bikers: 10:00 am, Drivers: Plan to arrive at the
park by 11:00 am. Those driving do not meet at the Rio Vista building. Route maps, water,
and snacks will be available for our walkers, runners, and bikers.

Gathering spot for games and lunch: Hurless Barton Park- 4601 Casa Loma Avenue, Yorba
Linda.

Parking: Friendship Baptist Church overflow lot- the entrance to this lot is off of Prospect
Street, north from Bastanchury. Please see the map below.

Temple Site: 17142 Bastanchury Road, Yorba Linda

Our Goal: Anaheim Stake group photo in front of the temple site at 12:15 pm.

We have the opportunity to walk around the perimeter fence of the Yorba Linda Temple site
and have Elder and Sister Allen share stories and miracles of constructing our temple. The
trail around the temple grounds begins at Bastanchury, on the east side of the temple site, and
is the trail to take to Hurless Barton Park. Drivers can arrive as early as 9 am, park at the
Friendship Baptist Church overflow lot across the street from the site up Prospect Street, walk
around the perimeter of the site with Elder and Sister Allen, and then take a fun, one-mile walk
to the park. Or return to their car and drive to the park. Walkers, runners, and bikers can visit
the temple site as they arrive.

There are 4 options for getting to the temple:

1. Walk- the distance is almost 7 miles, and the estimated time to get to the temple is 2.75 hours.

A portion will be along a bike path. Just be aware that on the bike path, cyclists
travel fast, so everyone will need to be cautious, and children should be carefully watched. Please
be prudent and prepared to walk this far! We will have check-in spots approximately
every mile for replenishing supplies.

2. Run- for our speedy friends, this may be your option. Estimated time depends on your
speed, but if you are comfortable running 7 miles, we are confident you already know
how long it will take you! We have allotted you 2 hours.

3. Bike- Part of your ride will be on the bike path. Most will be on major streets and side streets.

4. Drive- Your time will depend on where you live. Please plan on arriving at the park
around 11 am. Since parking is limited at the temple site, we have received permission
from the nearby Friendship Baptist Church to use their overflow parking lot, which is off of
Prospect Street. After the temple site walk, you can continue walking along the El Cajon
trail, which runs along the temple property, to Hurless Barton Park, or drive there. Please
note that parking is somewhat limited at the park. It is about 1 mile along the trail, with
some fun animals to see along the way. Please remember- DO NOT park on Osmond
Street.

5. *Important* Unless you desire to walk, run, or cycle back to the Rio Vista building,
Please designate a driver to get you (and your bike if necessary) back home from the
activity!

At Hurless Barton Park, there will be games to enjoy, along with a fun park to explore. Lunch
will be served at 11:00, and clean up will be at noon. Please bring your own chairs and
blankets for picnicking.

We will gather at the temple site for our group photo at 12:15. We want everyone to be in this
photo!

It’s time to start preparing, not just physically but also spiritually, as the opening of the Yorba
Linda Temple nears. We look forward to working toward this goal together!
